The research "Skills Shortages and Labor Market Analysis for Youth in Agriculture" is presented

[NT7]] today presented research on skills shortages and labor market analysis for young people in agriculture, aged 18-24, in rural settlements in the municipalities of Vushtrri, Skënderaj, Lipjan, Shtime Viti, and Kamenica.

To carry out this research, 15 students who benefited from practical work were engaged by IADK, who completed questionnaires with 150 respondents aged 18-24 on households in the rural areas of these municipalities. This roundtable presented statistically the results obtained as well as recommendations for youth employment engagement, especially in the agricultural sector.

Key conclusions identified include the lack of employment among young people, lack of training in agriculture, lack of grant support for youth, emigration of young people from agriculture/rural areas, while recommendations were given to develop sustainable strategies/policies by relevant actors that would influence youth engagement in employment, professional organization of agricultural training, support for youth with special programs for self-employment, offering agricultural grants in rural areas to reduce youth emigration from villages and their departure abroad, etc.

Part of this meeting were 17 participants, including leaders and officials from municipal agricultural directorates and employment offices of the aforementioned municipalities, while the meeting was also followed virtually by 15 participants via the "ZOOM" platform.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the project, "Improving employment and income-generating opportunities in the rural areas of Kosovo" with support from the German donor "BfdW".
