JOB VACANCY: PROJECT MANAGER for the Empowerment of Women and Youth

The Initiative for Agricultural Development of Kosovo (IADK) is a non-governmental organization committed to creating a more developed socio-economic environment in rural areas by supporting agricultural activities, the re-integration of returnees, alleviating poverty, reducing imports, promotion of good agricultural practices, reduction of unemployment including all social groups regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender.

IADK is implementing the project "Empowering youth and women of rural areas to engage in agriculture and food processing", financed by Frieda – the Feminist Peace Organisation, where the overall objective of the project will focus on the following issues:

  • The enhancement of professional capacities of women/men and youth

  • Strengthening women/men and youth towards income generation.

  • Integrating women/men and youth into socio-economic activities through establishing connections with relevant actors from the public and private sectors

Job Description:

The Project Manager will have the overall responsibility for the successful implementation of the mentioned project in coordination with the Executive Director of IADK. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the overall implementation of the project.

  • Supervise and coordinate the work with project staff; project officer, experts engaged

  • Manage and coordinate communication with donors, partners, and the communities where the project is implemented.

  • Ensure the visibility of the project is in line with IADK rules and regulations as well as be responsible to communicate with media and stakeholders.

  • Actively participate in monitoring all project activities.

  • Prepare and finalize all project reports for IADK and donors on a regular basis.

  • Prepare project materials for publication, leaflets/brochures.

  • Coordinate and participate in regular meetings, internally with IADK staff and externally with relevant stakeholders and beneficiaries.

  • Identify needs and gaps and be able to either adjust or propose new activities in order to achieve the main goal of the project. 

  • Identify potential experts who will be engaged in the project.


Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  1. University degree completed bachelor's level (preferably social sciences), or a related field

  2. Minimum of 3 years of work experience in project management and women empowerment (preferably with donor-funded projects).

  3. Experience in communication with media and the public.

  4. Experience in qualitative reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.

  5. Ability to lead a team and activities within the project.

  6. Willingness to assess and take initiatives related to complex project situations.

  7. Negotiation skills and persuasiveness to represent the project's interests.

  8. Good analytical skills

  9. Research, analysis, and drafting skills for various documents.

  10. Ability to work independently, strong organizational and self-motivational skills.

  11. Ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment.

  12. Ability to cope with time pressure.

  13. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  14. Good verbal and written communication skills in Albanian and English;

 Serbian is an asset.

  1. Possession of a driver's license (B) and relevant experience of driving in rural areas

  2. Analyse developments in context and target groups and being able to explain them to different stakeholders (also foreigners) 

  3. Be aware and understand the concept of gender (in)equality and the consequences for the target population of the project

  4. Be aware about the current gender discourse in Kosova as well as in international cooperation and be able to translate it to measures in the work with the target groups

  5. Proven experience in working with disadvantaged population groups and sensitivity towards their perspective.
