Milk Quality Improvement


In order to improve the fresh milk quality, IADK during 2010 has helped 35 farmers with hygienic equipments. Each farmer has benefited one package of hygienic equipments such as: acid and alkaline for cleaning of milking equipments, disinfection of udder, iodine, CMT test to detect the mastitis, three different types of brushes for cleaning of milking equipments and  wipes to clean the cows’ udder.

Collection Centers of Forest Fruits (CCFF)


The implementation of this activity was preceded by the research made on the network of the forest fruits and medical herbs collection in the rural areas of Mitrovica region. At the same time the project promotion was done in the areas where these products are collected.

Eight greenhouses with agriculture inputs


Eight women were supported with an all-inclusive package of : greenhouse erection 100m2 (greenhouse settlement, black plastic folia for mulchering, drop by drop irrigation system, water reservoir/trough of 1000 L, supporting system), agriculture inputs (cucumber cornichon and spinach seeds, granula and crystalline complex fertilizer, pesticides, spraying pump CP3 20 L) professional education (4 training sessions). The beneficiaries were from the northern part of Mitrovica (Suhodoll, Kroi i Vitakut) and Zveçan (Kelmend).

Cooling room


A centre in Vushtrri which is part of the fruit collection chain was supported with a cooling room of 40 m3. This centre collects forest fruits at a regional level by including two other collection centres supported by IADK.

The results of the 8 beneficiaries of greenhouse production


The average price of the lettuce/salad was 0.25€/kg and the average incomes from this culture has been 400€ per beneficiary. So, the incomes for one beneficiary have been different depending on the market; the minimal ones were 1300€ whereas the maximal incomes reached 1700€.

Mulcher


With the purpose of an easier and a more qualitative maintenance of orchards, a mulcher was provided for orchard farmers designed for grass reaping and trimming of tree branches after the pruning. This equipment was awarded for free to the associations of orchard farmers of the region which were created by IADK.

Eight Greenhouses of 200m² with inputs (one from savings)


In compliance to the selection criteria and the project objectives, seven beneficiaries of greenhouses from 21 interested applicants were selected. During the selection process of beneficiaries we also respected the geographic context of the municipalities: in Skenderaj (2), in Mitrovica (1), in Vushtrri (2), in Zubin Potok (1) and in Podujeva (1).

Seven apple orchards beneficiaries of 0.5ha surface


Sixty (60) farmers have expressed their interest to this component of which seven (7) were selected. The selection of the beneficiary farmers was done in two phases:

·         During the first phase a technical professional assessment was done by a commission composed of IADK experts and the relevant municipalities.

·         At the second phase, the agrochemical soil/land analysis was done for all the pre-selected candidates who have the best fulfilled conditions.

Pilot project of blackberry or raspberry cultivation


Five (5) farmers benefited from this activity: in Skenderaj (2), in Vushtrri (2) and in Podujeva (1). We have selected the raspberry and blackberry beneficiaries in cooperation with fruits orchard farmers associations and respective municipal departments for agriculture.

A success story of Adem Fejzullahu


He is 43 years old and lives in Bajgora village of Mitrovica municipality together with his 6 family members; wife, two sons and his two daughers.

By living in a deep wooden village in the Shala Bajgora region; securing the existence, fulfilling the family needs and education of children represent a serious challenge to him.
Adem, thanks to his desire to work, initiative of the “Arena” Forest Fruit Collection Center in Vushtrri and the natural resources of the region a new perspective for not only for his family but for many poor families of this region is opened....
